Sclerotherapy for Vein Removal

Dr. Alizadeh may also recommend sclerotherapy or ultrasound-guided sclerotherapy for veins or blood vessels that lie below the skin surface and are difficult to see. Sclerotherapy, the most common treatment for eliminating spider veins and smaller varicose veins, involves injecting a saline or sclerosing solution into the veins, causing them to collapse and eventually be reabsorbed by the body. The blood that once flowed through each small blood vessel naturally reroutes to another.

Endovenous Laser Vein Treatment

Finally, for large or complicated varicose veins, Dr. Alizadeh may recommend Endovenous Laser Vein Treatment, also known as VenaCure EVLT™, which many specialists regard as the laser vein treatment "gold standard" because it is safe, 98% effective, and requires only topical anesthesia and no surgery. EVLT laser vein treatment delivers laser energy through a thin fiber inserted into the varicose vein.
