What is Sciton® Moxi™?

The Sciton® Moxi™ is a laser wavelength treatment designed for patients looking for a light touch-up for their skin or a more dramatic improvement and rejuvenation. The Sciton® Moxi™ laser is a fractional laser treatment. Instead of a single beam, the laser is fractionated into several miniature beams. This powerful laser is effective but also gentle.

What happens during a Sciton® Moxi™ laser treatment?

We will start with a consultation to understand your needs and goals for your skin. Your skin will be thoroughly cleansed. A numbing cream is not typically required, as the treatment is usually quite tolerable for most patients without numbing.

Eye shields will be provided to protect your eyes from the light of the laser. The tip of the Sciton® Moxi™ device will be rolled across your face, neck, and chest or any other target areas you want to address to achieve more beautiful skin. The sensation is described by most patients as a prickly heat.

The device delivers micro-pulses of fractionated laser energy to the skin. These micro-pulses act as a heating agent in the skin, heating tiny areas with controlled damage but without causing any damage to the skin cells around the micro-channels. Once the treatment is complete, a topical serum or balm is applied to soothe and protect your skin.

Is there any recovery or downtime needed after a Moxi™ laser treatment?

One of the reasons Moxi™ is such a popular skin treatment is that it requires no downtime and the recovery period is short. We recommend you do not wear makeup for the rest of the day after your treatment.

You will notice that your skin feels rougher for the next few days after your treatment. The top layer of damaged cells is shedding off during this time. However, this should not stop you from continuing with your usual daily routine and activities.

How long will the results last after a Sciton® Moxi™ laser treatment?

Results after Sciton® Moxi™ laser treatments are long-lasting. We recommend you begin with 3-4 treatments, spaced about a week apart.

With each treatment, the results will continue to improve, and the results will last longer and longer.

Once you have completed the initial three or four treatments, you will be able to enjoy your results for about a year. From this point forward, we recommend maintenance treatments about two times a year to ensure you can continue to enjoy optimum results.

Am I a candidate for Moxi™ laser treatment?

The Sciton® Moxi™ laser is safe for use on every skin type and skin color, including darker shades of skin or skin darkened by the sun. Candidates for Sciton® Moxi™ laser treatments meet the following requirements:

Are in good health
Have not had a recent chemical peel or any other harsh skin treatments in the last month
Are not pregnant or breastfeeding
Have no skin infections, outbreaks, or rashes in the treatment areas
Do not have active cancerous or precancerous cells in the treatment area
Do not have a history of keloid scar formation
Have not been on Accutane in the past 18 months
Do not have skin auto-immune diseases
