Sculptra Aesthetic has become one of the most sought injectables on the market. It is important to note that Sculptra is in a class by itself. While other dermal fillers work on the surface level to directly fill in lines and wrinkles, Sculptra is different—it is injected into the deep dermis where it stimulates the body’s natural collagen production. Over the following weeks and months, the rebuilt collagen strands gradually restore facial volume and improve the appearance of folds and wrinkles.
Since 2004, Dr. Alizadeh has used Sculptra on literally thousands of patients with enormous success. As a national trainer, advisor, and investigator he has learned and taught the latest techniques for successful administration of sculptra which remains one of his favorite injectables. Sculptra is specifically designed to target volume loss and thinning of the entire face, including:
- Temples
- Cheeks and the marionette lines
- Support around the mouth
- Jawline
- acne scars
For those suffering from acne scars, while Sculptra is a viable option, Dr. Alizadeh also offers lasercision. Lasercision has proven to be an effective treatment in reducing the appearance of acne scars. Learn more here.

How Does Sculptra Work?
Sculptra is made from a substance called poly-L-lactic acid. This substance has a remarkable cosmetic advantage—while it is eventually absorbed by the body, it simultaneously works to replace lost collagen. Because it works with the body’s natural collagen-building process, the results appear quite natural, never overdone. Dr. Alizadeh loves using Sculptra for his patients, both in the face and in the butt for a non-surgical butt lift.

What To Expect During Your Sculptra® Treatment
At Cosmoplastic Surgery in NYC, we will provide a full list of pre- and post-treatment instructions to ensure an ideal outcome. Among these includes the avoidance of blood thinners for a week prior to the procedure.
During the Sculptra procedure, Dr. Alizadeh uses a very fine needle to precisely inject Sculptra into the target area. Sculptra contains lidocaine, numbing the target area and allowing patients to feel quite comfortable during treatment. If desired, patients can also use topical anesthetic prior to the procedure for optimum comfort. As mentioned above, Sculptra is injected slightly deeper than other dermal fillers.
Sculptra injections usually last no more than 10 minutes. Following treatment, there is virtually no downtime, but our office recommends avoiding exercise for several days, as well as sun exposure. Discomfort can be mitigated with ice packs. Again, our office will provide a full list of aftercare instructions.
