Benefits of Male Breast Reduction Surgery in New York: Manhattan and Long Beach

Gynecomastia surgery, or male breast reduction surgery, can help men in the NYC area minimize the appearance of overdeveloped breasts, a condition called gynecomastia. Though common, gynecomastia can make men feel so self-conscious about their "man boobs" that they feel reluctant to remove their shirt in public—or in private. According to Dr. Kaveh Alizadeh, a board-certified plastic surgeon in NYC, there is no "one size fits all" gynecomastia surgery. Some men simply have excess fat deposits in the breast area, so micro liposuction or nonsurgical UltraShape® or CoolSculpting can resolve their problem. Other men, however, may also have sagging skin, fibrous breast tissue, or a large nipple diameter, so they require gynecomastia surgery to remove the excess tissue and reveal a flatter, firmer, and more masculine chest.

Dr. Alizadeh understands that men want to feel confident about their appearance, and they often take great pride in their physical fitness and physique. He also understands the extremely sensitive nature of this condition, so if you choose to schedule a consultation for gynecomastia surgery, he and his entire staff guarantee complete discretion and confidentiality. According to HIPAA laws, no physician can share your medical information without your consent, so you will have total control over who knows about your procedure.

How NaturaMale® Gynecomastia Surgery Works

After many years of performing gynecomastia surgery, Dr. Alizadeh has developed a specialized technique, called NaturaMale® Gynecomastia Surgery, to achieve superior results. He performs the procedure via minimal-access sites to help hide any scars in the natural contours around the areola, or nipple. The goal is for patients to feel comfortable in a tight shirt or even bare chested without showing any visible signs of surgery. Most patients begin with liposuction to remove fatty deposits in the chest area. Dr. Alizadeh uses power-assisted liposuction (PAL) for gentle, atraumatic liposuction. It uses a gentle wave of tumescent solution to break up fat cells while minimizing bruising. The fat cells are then carefully suctioned from the body.

If the patient has good skin tone and elasticity, the breast and chest tissue gradually tightens and firms on its own following liposuction. If it does not, or if there is an excess of loose or sagging breast skin, possibly causing the nipple to face downward, Dr. Alizadeh will directly excise any redundant skin. At this time he may also reduce the size of the nipple, creating the incision directly around the border of the areola so that it is inconspicuous once healed. If a patient has fibrous breast tissue, often located directly under the nipple, Dr. Alizadeh will also surgically remove it following liposuction.

NaturaMale® Recovery: What to Expect

For the first three to seven days following gynecomastia surgery, you will wear a compression garment and be instructed to rest completely. Dr. Alizadeh and his staff will give you complete pre- and after-care instructions prior to surgery so that you are well-prepared for your recovery phase. Swelling and bruising are normal after surgery but should resolve completely in two to three weeks. Most patients continue to see improvement from their procedure for up to one year.

What You Need to Know About Stem Cells and Their Role in Plastic Surgery and Rejuvenation

In addition to advanced surgical techniques, Dr. Alizadeh also offers approaches that harness the power of your own stem cells to optimize healing and enhance results. It is important to understand that not all so-called “stem cell” procedures are the same. Stem cells refer to the body’s pluripotential cells, which can activate and mediate changes throughout the body. In fetal development, these cells differentiate into tissues and organs that create our form and function. By applying scientific principles, plastic surgeons can tap into this resource at any age to help improve form and function—but only when done correctly and safely. Here’s what you need to know:

  • Harvest: The tissue must be harvested using an atraumatic technique under the correct pressure gauge, instrumentation, and sterile conditions. It should have minimal exposure to air, extreme temperatures, and avascular time.
  • Donor: Dr. Alizadeh chooses donor sites known to have the highest quality and quantity of regenerative cells, such as bone marrow or adipocytes under the skin. Not all “stem cell” or “exosome” materials are equal; some come from other individuals or species, carrying a risk of infection or rejection. Dr. Alizadeh harvests only your own tissue for the ExoBoost, providing you with a safe and reliable approach containing millions of regenerative cells.
  • Processing: Dr. Alizadeh and his team use well-established guidelines and technology—such as Puregraft for fat grafting and Adonizer for exosomes or bone marrow processing—that not only separate and purify the components in a sterile manner, but also remove excess fluid to concentrate and maximize your results.
  • Injection: Utilizing accepted protocols and specialized cannulas, Dr. Alizadeh delivers small aliquots of the injectate to improve revascularization and integration, which translates to a quicker recovery and more effective outcomes.

With over a quarter century of experience, Dr. Alizadeh is recognized as one of the leading innovators in Plastic Surgery worldwide. However, it is important to realize that individual results can vary, and you must follow all instructions carefully to achieve the best outcome. We welcome all of your questions and encourage you to be actively involved in your care, as we truly enjoy partnering with you on your journey toward wellness and confidence.
